Tip #1. Mental Health Nutrition: What foods to eat for mental health?

What foods should you be eating for boosting your mental health?

Download my Mental Health Shopping List of the top foods with the critical nutrients you need for improving your Mental Health. Take charge of your mental health and feel empowered to go to the grocery store and know which foods to buy to boost memory, clarity, concentration, balance your mood, and help you deal with stress, anxiety and depression.

Surprise surprise the list is mostly plant based, and shifting to a plant-based diet is a big lifestyle change, but it doesn’t have to be all or nothing. Even modest increases in your office snacks and meals to include fruits, whole grains, and vegetables while reducing processed food can reduce absenteeism, improve the bottom line, and increase employee productivity and retention. Make sure you download the shopping list and save it on your phone so it’s handy for when you go out grocery shopping or ordering food at a restaurant.

Tip #2. How to multitask effectively?

Although I’m not a big fan of multitasking because studies show that we can only truly multitask when it comes to highly automatic behaviours like walking. However, for activities that involve conscious attention, we are task switching, often times with less accuracy and focus. However in a recent study published by the Royal Society Open Science Journal, it found out that women do have the ability to multitask as compared to their male counterparts. While we all struggle with time and deadlines here are some tips that can help you multitask without sacrificing effectiveness for efficiency.

1. Make a Plan

It’s vital that you know how you are going to tackle each project and have that laid out so you don’t have to do too much on-the-spot thinking or brainstorming.

2. Combine Similar Tasks to Work on at the Same Time

It’s vital that the tasks you’re working on have something in common, as your short-term memory can only handle so much. Keeping the tasks you’re working on similar will make it much easier to complete them effectively and efficiently.

3. Eliminate Distractions. Turn off your cell phone. Move into a quiet area. Maybe you want to listen to music or whatever your technique is, dedicate yourself to these tasks and these tasks alone.

4. Consistently Check in with Your Tasks and Goals

Make sure you are checking and rechecking your work throughout the process. Set small steps for each project so that you know you’re moving forward as opposed to plateauing.

5. Take Time to Review Your Work

When all is said and done, it’s imperative that you take the time to pay attention to specific details and review your work. Check what your original assignment was, and make sure the final product ticks off all the boxes. People try and fail to multitask all the time, but if you can master these skills, you can be a valuable asset to your workplace. Subscribe for more workplace wellness tips like these.

Tip #3. How to Reset Your Mindset for Better Problem Solving

Let me give you all a beautiful reminder of this very powerful truth. Your mindset is a collection of thoughts & beliefs that shape your behaviour and ultimately your habits.

So how can you ensure you’re expressing the highest version of yourself? You gotta do the work!

Engage in self-improvement, unlearn what you know, if necessary, and re-program your subconscious mind. Ensuring your thoughts are conducive to helpful beliefs and those beliefs shape good habits, which allow you to live your dream life.

Are you feeling stuck? Not progressing? Consider this: What are some of the things you can change that are obviously not working and will help you address some of your challenges?

Perhaps, it’s as simple as revising the due dates of some of your goals or projects, or revisiting the milestones, or maybe you need to redefine that goal.

We often get stuck on the HOW we can address a challenge or a problem, but the answer might be WHO can help you solve the issue.

Stepping away from the issue and getting a good night’s rest is also a great way to reset and come back to it with a fresh perspective.

Tip #5. Who Is Your Energy Vampire?

Who is your energy vampire? An energy vampire is someone that drains your energy and causes you unnecessary stress. We all have that co-worker, friend or perhaps even a family member. I know this is easier said that done, but if you cannot avoid this person altogether, make a serious attempt to limit your interactions with them. Or address their behaviour directly. At work, you can limit interactions between the two of you by not agreeing to lunches and not stopping by their desk to chat. Energy vampires demand a lot from the people they target. This continuous drain on your energy resources can have a noticeable effect on your well-being. Over time, excess stress can lead to anxiety, depression, heart disease, and many more. That’s why it’s important to recognize the behaviors and then work to remove them. This may involve putting up walls to protect against an energy vampire’s efforts or removing the person from your life entirely. Do you face any energy vampires? Who are they? What can you do to better deal with them in the future? These ideas may not work for everyone. Try them and modify your approach as you go until you’re able to feel in control and protected.
