Happy Self-Care Sunday! How are you enjoying this day off? I’m in Guatemala on a personal retreat, and a partial digital detox (I’m only allocating a few hours to technology) so that I can immerse myself in the food and culture. Will share my experience soon.
All chronic pain, suffering and disease are caused by a lack of oxygen at the cell level’ wrote Dr Arthur C Guyton.
Breathwork refers to a variety of breathing techniques and exercises that can be used to improve one’s physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual health. It exists in a variety of forms; there are ancient practices, such as Pranayama, and modern techniques developed other practitioners. While more complex practices exist, many easy, quick exercises can be worked into your daily wellness routine.
So why is breathwork important? In addition to being a popular relaxation method, breathwork has also proven to offer a wide variety of health benefits. This makes it one of the most natural methods of treating a variety of issues.
‘Proper breathing nourishes the cells of the body with oxygen and optimises the functioning of the body on all levels.’ Studies have shown that conscious breathing exercises such as ‘breathe in for four, hold for seven, out for eight’ are beneficial for a wide variety of conditions. Conscious breathing activates the body’s relaxation response, which in turn reduces blood pressure, lowers the risk of stroke and improves cardiovascular health.

It’s also good for digestion and general immunity, both of which are impaired by stress. Similar techniques are at the heart of hypnotherapy which are becoming increasingly popular. There are many forms of breathwork therapy that involve breathing in a conscious and systematic way. Most people find breathwork deeply relaxing and it leaves them feeling energized.
Giovanni Bartolomeo guarantees that life changes in many ways after practicing breath work. On one side there is the emotional release to let go what you are holding on to and when you improve your breathing practice you are able to be present and not react to stress and stimuli in the environment.
This allows you to make better decisions in all aspects of life. So, there are physical and emotional benefits and also a spiritual side where some people may start opening up to breath work in different ways.
Breathwork is the most powerful tool you will ever find for releasing stuck or stored emotions in your nervous system or body. It will also create confidence and self-love in a way you didn’t know was possible.
Don’t take my word for it, you only need to try it once to find out because the results from your very first time are undeniable.
