The Bhagavad Gita says, “The mind under control is your best friend, the mind wandering about is your worst enemy.”

Wim Hof advices to make our mind our best friend and a wise companion that we can rely on. The mind makes us strong from within. Life doesn’t change, but our perception does. It’s all about what we focus on.

When we withdraw from the world’s influence (with breathwork & meditation) we are no longer controlled by our emotions. If we can grab the wheel of our mind, we can steer the direction of where our life will go. I affirm that breathwork is the tool to help you achieve this important milestone.

I invite you to join the monthly online New Moon Breathwork Experience and be part of the breathwork revolution. Purchase your “Group Sessions” tickets here.

Breath is the only critical physiological function that operates unconsciously, but can also be directed consciously. While regulated by very complex chemical sensors in multiple places, it is tied to specific activities, perceptions and emotions. While regulation of breath is critical to basic physiological survival, it is also used for stress reduction including mental relaxation and alteration of perceptions in meditation. Perceptions are very complex and mostly determined top down from the cortex, not simply by analysis of incoming sensory information. The fact that breathing rates are, also, able to alter perceptions may be the basis of powerful meditation techniques using self-observation of the breath.

I invite you to listen to episode #15 of the Self-Care Goddess Podcast with Jennifer Stevenson “How to Celebrate Your Life’s Magnanimity Through Your Breath”

Only recently is it becoming clear how breathing alters perception. This intriguing new research shows that breathing rates bind together different senses through synchronization of brain circuits, and is critical in the integration of perception. It is also clear that emotions, stress and perceptions have a major impact on breathing rate. While fear and stress increase the breathing rate, conscious control of breathing is effective in stress reduction, relaxation and meditation.
